How to unite and cooperate to defend and fix America

America's principled self-governance and bountiful common well-being, the body and soul of our nation enshrined in our Constitution and symbolized by our Flag, are under attack from within.

Today a right-wing Homeland Enemy, consolidated wealth and power and their media machine, commit offenses morally worse than the injustices by the Enemy of 1776 listed in the main section of our Declaration of Independence.

In short, corrupt representation (White House, Congress, Judiciary) and corrupt mass media (America's news and entertainment) protect and serve a half-million wealth-corporate clients and 30 million Christian-Right clients (0.15% and 10% of the public) at the economic, social, and bodily expense of 270 million conservative-and-liberal We the People (the 90% majority) and our posterity. They disabled our democracy and freely harm our justice, unity and cooperation, national security, general welfare, liberty, the world and its people we depend on, the environment, and our posterity.

Besides immoral it's illegal: they violate our Constitution -- Preamble, Articles, Amendments, separation of powers, separation of church and state -- in technicality and spirit to the core.

Wielding their news-and-entertainment media machine as a weapon of deception and manipulation, they manufacture democratic support for their unlawfulness and inhumanity, they silence alarms and neuter opposition from We the People, and they hide and spin reality so skillfully that most Americans have no idea what's happening.

Worry not. Our overwhelming majority, our natural urges for justice, the wisdom of humankind, our Charters of Freedom, and the American Revolution tell us how to deal with this worst-ever threat to America's national security.

One of the rewards if We the People wake up, rise up, and defend and fix America as resolutely as we created America? A savings of $2 trillion a year, $15k a year per taxpayer on the average, by stopping the Homeland Enemy's tax and corporate fleecing of the American public. It adds up like this: $800 bn/yr by eliminating tax-relief and subsidies for corporations and the wealthy + $300 bn/yr by stopping Washington-allowed tax cheating by corporations and the wealthy + $300 bn/yr by eliminating interest payments by paying off the federal debt + at least $200 bn/yr by eliminating world-domination and world-plundering expenses + least $400 bn/yr by halting the gouging of our citizens by corporations = a savings of at least $2,000 bn/yr (study CivicPowerUSA.org).

And we could save lives -- here and abroad. Here, by stopping at least 50,000 unnecessary deaths a year caused by Homeland-Enemy domestic policy: they fail to comply with pollution laws causing 30,000 deaths/yr, they jacked up the price of health insurance so high many citizens cannot afford it causing 20,000 deaths/yr, they reduced motor-vehicle safety causing 3,000 deaths/yr, they cut other types of public safety including workplace safety and food safety and drug safety where one drug alone, a pain-killer, caused 10,000 deaths/yr, and so on (study CivicPowerUSA.org). Abroad, by stopping an even higher rate of death, the victims of Homeland-Enemy foreign policy and military power (a resurgence of international humanity by America would do wonders for our national security).

That theft and killing are two symptoms of a political disease infecting America.

To cure America, to defend and fix America, just do what we did to create America: spell out the whole problem and declare the complete solution to the entire public (why not model it after our Declaration of Independence) and unite and cooperate to carry it out (this time directed by supreme law in our Constitution).

What is and who are the Homeland Enemy? It and they are the consolidation of executive/legislative/judicial federal powers, wealth-corporate power, Christian-Right religious power, and mass-media power into the unbridled right-wing state power that rules and exploits and hurts America today. It began around 1980.

The Homeland Enemy is a recent flare-up of the ancient wealth-and-power disease that has plagued humankind off-and-on for tens of millennia. The Framers understood and feared this political disease (Colonial America revolted against it), they designed our Constitution to prevent it from flaring up and infecting America from within (they incorporated multiple lines of defense, consisting of supreme law, such as "insure domestic Tranquility," "no religious Test[s]," trial by jury, separation of powers, separation of church and state), and seemingly just in case they wrote the full cure for the disease into the first sentence of our Constitution: "We, the People," the government of America and supreme power in America, shall live up to our supreme responsibility and wield our civic power to "provide for the common defence" against the Homeland Enemy and its media machine and then "establish Justice," "insure domestic Tranquility" needed for national unity and cooperation, "promote the general Welfare," and "secure the Blessings of Liberty" to "ourselves and our Posterity" at least back up to the higher levels we had before the enemy within began to subvert and hurt America.

Their manipulation machine (explained farther below) hides all that. Which is why America cannot see the Homeland Enemy, or the lawlessness and inhumanity they commit, or the full cure prescribed by our Constitution, or the supreme duty of We the People to resolutely administer the cure, or how the main section of our Declaration of Independence sets the example for Element 1 of the cure: list the grievances against the enemy and declare redress.

They subverted our democracy, harm our country and citizens, and violate our American values and Constitution:

• America no longer has representative government. The White House and Congress, and increasingly the Judiciary, represent and serve wealth-corporate and Christian-Right clients and not We the People anymore. In return for cash from wealthy and corporate donors (0.15% of our population, 0.4% of all votes) and votes from the Christian Right (10% of our population, half the red vote, a quarter of all votes), the White House and Congress install the judges, write the laws, conduct the policies, award the funds, and launch the wars their clients want.

• America no longer has democratic processes. Our two major parties are two flavors of the same political monopoly that serves the Homeland Enemy; the red flavor, although more pious, is more unlawful and more inhumane than the blue flavor. They merged advertising, public relations, journalism, and entertainment into "communication" where news reporters and talking heads and actors, employed by America's consolidating mass media, serve wealth and power and not the common good of We the People. The Homeland Enemy and its media machine block knowledge, truth, discourse, dissent, issues, candidates, and new political parties we need for true democracy. Virtually all media information and democratic choices available today side with the Homeland Enemy, so no matter who we vote for chances are they'll cater to the Homeland Enemy and not We the People. Throughout the election process they engage in various underhanded activities, from compiling voter purge lists to suppressing liberal voter turnout to tampering with or stopping the count, to tilt the vote toward red.

• After crippling our democracy (after subverting our representative governance and democratic processes), they're now free to exploit our country and citizens as they please. And they're succeeding beyond their wildest dreams. As they seize more and more wealth and power, they slash more and more of the Benefits-of-Living-in-America from all five categories of common well-being listed in the first sentence of our Constitution: justice (they deepen injustice, they make justice less equal, both in several ways); unity and cooperation toward the common good (they manipulate We the People to be so polarized and divisive we can't unite and cooperate to carry out our Constitution, instead of insuring "domestic Tranquility" they insure domestic discord, they do it to divide and conquer us); national security (they keep the public and new generations completely in the dark about the foremost national-defense duty of all citizens -- be eternally vigilant to prevent flare-up of consolidated wealth and power that could subvert our democracy and hurt our citizens -- in order to weaken and destroy civic understanding and civic power our country needs to protect and preserve itself, today they grow the terrorism threat after creating it in the 1980s with Christian-Right support); the general welfare (they hurt public education including core civics education under the guise of improving education, they reduce economic opportunity and financial security of citizens and families, they cause at least 20-times-more homeland deaths a year than were caused by terrorists on 9/11/2001, they systematically mine the wealth of today's citizens and future citizens, the list of their assaults on the general welfare is long and horrifying); liberty (they strip away privacy, restrict freedoms, punish whistleblowers and dissenters, and more). They steadily remove this well-being from our nation and We the People and posterity, aided by their manipulation machine.

• According to our Constitution, We the People -- through representative democracy and a free press, and by following the law and principles in the Articles and Amendments -- have supreme power and supreme responsibility to "establish Justice," "insure domestic Tranquility," "provide for the common defence," "promote the general Welfare," and "secure the Blessings of Liberty" to "ourselves and our Posterity." These are our country's goals, our national interests, our core American values, and the patriotic common ground of all conservative and liberal true Americans. The Homeland Enemy, and their media machine, act as a consolidated right-wing state power against them.

• In the process of subverting our representative governance, subverting our democratic processes, and broadly and deeply hurting the well-being of our nation and citizens and posterity, they violate our Constitution -- especially our national goals listed in the Preamble as well as Article 1, Article 2, Article 6, separation of powers, and separation of church and state (study CivicPowerUSA.org). These are high crimes against America. Their violations of our Bill of Rights, including the First Amendment, are minor infractions in comparison.

What do wealth-corporate clients of the White House and Congress want? They want freedom to extract wealth from America and its citizens, and from the rest of the world and its citizens including through the World Bank / IMF (citizens of Senegal call it "savage capitalism"), without having to care about any harm it may cause. They want laws that permit domestic and international markets to be rigged to favor corporations, laws that reduce the need for corporations to act fairly or responsibly, and laws that protect corporations from being punished after they commit harm. They want corporation-friendly federal agencies and corporation-friendly federal judges to help them achieve their wealth-extraction and responsibility-evasion goals. They want generous tax-relief and lavish subsidies: for our federal government to collect money from today's taxpayers, and borrow it from tomorrow's taxpayers, and pay it to corporations (similar to the tea taxes that subsidized the East India Company, who hurt the Colonies in return, which incited the Boston Tea Party and triggered the American Revolution). This is the "free market" economy that today's White House and Congress provide the legal structure and public financing for.

What do Christian-Right clients of the White House and Congress want? Not the usual humanitarian things because the religion of the Christian Right is starkly different from mainstream Christianity (see paragraph immediately below). As their actions consistently demonstrate, they want a better life for the un-born and the dead and a worse life for the living and their future generations: For faith to replace reason. For scripture to replace knowledge. For theology to replace science. For their inhumane and nihilistic religious beliefs (humans are naturally bad and need divine control to act good, why care about the future well-being of people or for the environment because "end times" are coming and serve God by helping to speed it up) to replace the enlightening secular moral values in our Constitution (humans are naturally good and innately capable of wise-and-humane self-governance, We the People provide five categories of human-to-human goodness to each other and to our future generations and to other nations). For their religious beliefs to be codified into federal laws (that give rights to zygotes / embryos / fetuses and take away rights from females and families and gays). For federal agencies to administer those laws. For Christian-Right federal judges to uphold those laws. For church to combine with state including the military. For injustice and hardship and strife and calamity to grow here and abroad and thus drive millions more to seek spiritual escape into their religion and thus swell their numbers and political clout. For our foreign policy and troops to help fast-track their born-again Christian-Zionist Biblical prophecy: nurture conflict in the Middle East and help Israel expand into the Promised Land -- which includes Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Iraq, portions of Egypt and Saudi Arabia, and displacement or obliteration of their Arab / Islamic inhabitants -- to set off the Apocalypse which would also wipe out America and our posterity. Although many in the White House and Congress may find the born-again Christian-Zionist interpretation of the Book of Revelation inaccurate and immoral, as does mainstream Christianity, the White House and Congress deliver what the Christian Right wants in order to receive their 30 million votes. Kept secret is the total financial cost of federal support for Christian-Right religion: approximately $1,500 per taxpayer a year on the average, in effect an annual Christian-Right religious tax that all of us are forced to pay (study CivicPowerUSA.org).

(The Christian Right obscures how they exploit the Jewish people as pawns, and how they care little about the mortal well-being of others including their own children. Born-again Christian Zionism, the religion of the Christian Right, emerged in the late 1800s a century after the birth of America -- and before Zionism -- and helped to spawn the Jewish Zionism movement which created the modern state of Israel needed to bring about "end times" during which the Jewish people either convert to the right kind of Christianity or perish. All other people on Planet Earth who are not born-again Christian Zionists -- including We the People, our posterity, and children of the Christian Right who choose not to follow the religion of their parents -- are to painfully die also. Their religion is broadly based on piety that requires inhumanity, inhumanity that violates the moral code of the world's major religions as well as the moral values and supreme law in our Constitution. From Christianity they removed the human-to-human humanity that Jesus taught during his life, humanity similar to the well-being goals of America listed in our Constitution. That is, they removed Christianity from Christianity; they even removed selfless giving from traditional moral goodness -- they want something in return. In return for their charity they want you to convert to their religion. In return for their votes they want the White House, Congress, Judiciary, and military to act on behalf of their religion, even if it means breaking law and hurting people. Good citizenship -- selfless public service and selfless civic duty on behalf of present and future Earthly common well-being, which is fostered by mainstream Christianity -- is not part of the Christian-Right moral package. In a nutshell, mainstream Christianity is traditional "humane Christianity" and the religion of the Christian Right is a radical new "inhumane Christianity." Christian-Right Christians are not "evangelical Christians" as our mass media advertises them to be. They are "inhumane Christians" who are not morally Christian. Since they comprise 98% of the right-wing electorate, are heavily wooed by the White House and Congress, are rapidly entering our Judiciary, and are becoming military instructors and officers at a faster and faster pace, they pose a dangerous threat to America and the world.)

The White House and Congress fully realize how their two clients, wealthy Corporate America and the radical Christian Right, feed off each other in a perfect alliance. Take Iraq. Corporate America profits immensely from bomb-it-then-rebuilt-it war, from privatized war services ranging from supplying meals for our troops to providing American and foreign mercenaries paid 20-times more than our troops, from turning nuclear-power-plant waste into pricey depleted-uranium munitions that poison land and people including our troops, from exploiting the assets and resources of the victim nation (see paragraph immediately below), as they deliver what the Christian Right lobbies for and yearns for: for the Promised Land to explode into unrest as a precursor to "end times." The worse it gets in the Middle East including Iraq, the better for both clients: Corporate America gets more money from America and the Middle East, and the Christian Right gets more spiritual fulfillment and more followers. Likewise for the breeding of terrorism by the War on Terror, such as how America's global torture gulag invigorates buildup of a global terrorist retaliatory force against that injustice by America: atrocities by both sides, and fear justified and manufactured, generate more federal spending that enriches the Homeland-Security and defense industries including for space-based weapons to zap targets on Earth ("In Your Face From Outer Space" is the motto of the Space Warfare Center) and it builds up the size and clout of the Christian Right. Other examples abound: whenever Corporate America inflicts economic harm or bodily harm here and abroad, and whenever it hurts the environment, the Christian-Right "rapture index" rises. (Washington's saber rattling at Iran spikes the "rapture index," too.) The Christian Right thrives on the inhumanity that Corporate America delivers. The White House and Congress cater to that toxic alliance, and they force We the People to fund it with our hard-earned tax money, in order to receive billions of campaign-contribution dollars and millions of Christian-Right votes they now depend on to stay and grow in power.

("Moving the Iraqi Economy from Recovery to Sustainable Growth," the deceptively-titled comprehensive plan for America's economic conquest of Iraq to be implemented over the long term by our permanent military presence in Iraq [such as through the Bremer Orders] and by our huge new embassy in Iraq, was issued by the White House in February 2003 a month before the Iraq invasion; that corporate wish list, more than a decade in the making, is so extensive it requires Iraqi farmers to buy expensive American seed every season; the plan's content, and its title almost word for word except for the name of the country, are similar to plans for World Bank / IMF projects where multinational corporations exploited and harmed recipient nations under a guise of selfless giving and helping. The White House's Executive Order 13290 issued the day shock-and-awe bombing of Iraq commenced, and Executive Orders 13303 and 13315, authorize takeover of Iraqi assets "in the interest of and for the benefit of the United States." Those documents, and much other evidence, reveal the true nature of the war on Iraq: premeditated armed robbery. The muscle? Our duped unwitting troops who extremely tragically have no idea they're serving as corporate mercenaries. Collateral damage? If Iraq had America's population, our military killed more than a million civilians, mostly women and children, and wounded, maimed, and radioactive-poisoned with depleted-uranium munitions many times that number. The lookout and getaway car? Our press and talking heads.)

What are the mass-persuasion duties of the Homeland Enemy's media machine? Hide and spin domestic-and-international lawbreaking and inhumanity committed by the White House, Congress, and their clients. Silence and damage the credibility of -- and cruelly savage when necessary -- opponents, dissenters, whistleblowers, and journalists who expose the truth. Keep citizens clueless and powerless, and manipulate them into pliable and proud supporters of the Homeland Enemy.

Consequently our acts of good citizenship -- reading and watching the news to stay informed, individuals and organizations supporting just causes and working on vital civic issues and participating in political campaigns, independent media reporting case after case of lawbreaking and inhumanity by those who abuse power (events that America's newspapers and talking heads typically cover up or spin into goodness), dissenting against wrongdoing, whistleblowing for the public good, writing to our Senators and Congressman, voting in every election -- barely work anymore. They took over our mass media, stealthily neutered our democracy, and gained freedom to control and exploit as they please. In the process they hurt the common well-being of America, they hurt the world and environment we depend on, and they hurt our posterity.

Examine just one type of exploitation: how they take our wealth. With backing from the Christian Right they systematically extract wealth from poor and middle-class citizens, and from our trust funds and future generations, to service corporations and the well-off. They do it through a system of stealthy wealth-transfer schemes. Through reforms that regress fairness: tax reform where the long-range plan is to replace graduated income taxes with flat taxes, to eliminate taxes on interest/dividend income and capital-gains income and corporate income, to heap all taxes on wage-and-salary sweat income and on consumer consumption, so that the poor and middle class pay a higher and higher percentage of their income on federal/state/local taxes than the well-off do, as they slowly morph fair taxation based on ability to pay and shared equally by capital and labor into unfair taxation where the poor and middle class foot the entire bill for running America and the well-off freeload; Social Security reform to create a huge new gold mine of citizen wealth for the investment industry; Medicare/Medicaid and health-insurance reforms to enrich the pharmaceutical and healthcare industries at the expense of the public; bankruptcy reform that traps poor and middle-class victims of economic / medical hardships in perpetual high-interest debt but frees the well-off to shield their assets from creditors; tort reform that allows corporations to wrongfully harm citizens including to unfairly drain wealth and not be held liable; education reforms that curtail public funding for colleges and universities to profit the huge student-loan industry that began around 1980, and cut federal spending on public colleges that educate needy students and boost it for private universities that educate wealthy students. Through tax-relief and subsidies for corporations and the wealthy that now total over $800 billion a year. Through legalized tax cheating by corporations and the wealthy, over $300 billion a year, which forces the rest of to pay 15% more a year in federal taxes to make up the difference. Through deregulation of corporations to permit gouging of citizens, such as deregulation that allowed the massive Savings-and-Loan and Enron thefts, deregulation that permits fraud by the investment industry including by lowering accounting standards for corporations (those who get caught are minimally punished), and deregulation that legalizes usury by the financial industry (some payday-loan rates are 500%-700% APR due to hidden fees, Mafia loan-sharking rates were only 100%-200% APR). Through privatization of public services and public utilities that raises consumer prices of basic services including for water and energy. Through foreign policy, military campaigns, and manufacturing of fear that drive up demand for more national security which drives up federal spending that flows into Homeland-Security and defense-industry corporations (it's a huge and escalating federal overhead expense that starves federal investment in America's infrastructure and general welfare of citizens, a major goal of the right wing). And so on. All these wealth-transfer schemes -- that hurt our country and citizens -- are financed by higher taxes on citizens (shouldered increasingly by the poor and middle class due to tax reform) and by transferring trillions of dollars out of our trust funds (Social Security, Medicare / Medicaid, Veterans) and by borrowing heavily from our future generations through deficit spending (today every new American is born into $125,000 of trust-fund-IOU and federal-borrowing debt, a share of debt that increases hundreds of dollars each month for every citizen). All these are thank-you gifts from the White House and Congress to their campaign-contribution donors, who on the average receive over $300 for every $1 they give (study CivicPowerUSA.org). The immorality of it all is condoned by the Christian Right. The heist? Trillions yearly. The lookout and getaway car? Our mass media.

That escalating trickle-up theft of wealth from our "general Welfare" is a tiny fraction of their total theft from all five categories of common well-being listed in the Preamble of our Constitution: justice, unity and cooperation toward the common good, national security, "general Welfare," and liberty for ourselves and our posterity.

They manipulate us:

• To keep us clueless about key American history: How "corporate personhood," today's belief that corporations were created equal to people and thus possess inalienable rights like people do, was preposterous and anathema to America's founders as demonstrated by the Boston Tea Party. How "[T]he government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian religion" became supreme Law of the Land when it was written into the 1797 Treaty of Tripoli a decade after the Constitutional Convention (see paragraph below in regard to Article 6) and how that affirmation of secularism and separation-of-church-and-state, written and approved by the White House and Congress and publicized by the press, was so uncontroversial no one objected. How "Corporation and Country" and "God and Country" have been un-American and illegal from the very beginning.

• To block and distort basic understanding of our Constitution: To make us believe that the well-being of corporations and the free market are more important than the well-being of common citizens and our posterity. To make us believe that God runs and rules America, to make us think that our democracy and common well-being come from God and not from We the People, because the words "God" and "Creator" appear in our Declaration of Independence and because the world "Lord" appears in our Constitution ("in the Year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Eighty seven"). To make us think our Constitution is about individuals being delivered entitled rights on a silver platter and not about vigilant supreme duty by citizens to unite and cooperate to achieve the Preamble's five categories of common well-being -- "Justice," "domestic Tranquility," "common defence," "general Welfare," and "Liberty" for "ourselves and our Posterity" -- that include our rights (the Bill of Rights is an add-on list of vital items that help ensure attainment of these five overall goals). To make sure we don't realize that the President and Congress are employees that We the People hire and are not our rulers or shepherds (We the People are the rulers, our Constitution is our shepherd). To make sure we don't know that members of a jury have a supreme duty to judge the justness of the law itself as a direct citizen check on unjust power. To make sure we don't understand the "no religious Test" provision in Article 6 and the principle of separation of church and state which together forbid anyone in public service, including the military, from using religion to qualify or influence anything they do on behalf of our nation (when the White House and Congress install judges or write laws or conduct policies or issue funds or launch wars on any basis of religion, or when they give speeches laced with scripture designed to attract Christian-Right votes, or when military instructors and officers force allegiance to religion, they violate our Constitution). To make sure we don't know that "all Treaties [are] supreme Law of the Land" as specified in Article 6 (when the White House, Congress, and our military commit aggressive war or allow torture they violate treaties -- UN Charter, Nuremberg Charter, Geneva Conventions -- and thus violate our Constitution as well as the US War Crimes Act). To prevent us from learning our true American values -- the five kinds of secular and liberal human-to-human goodness listed in the Preamble: We the People "establish Justice," "insure domestic Tranquility," "provide for the common defence," "promote the general Welfare," and "secure the Blessings of Liberty" to ourselves and our posterity -- and thus prevent us from learning how the soul of our Constitution is secular and liberal. To make us believe that the First Amendment is the most important part of our Constitution and little else in it matters.

• To splinter and polarize us into competitive divisive factions and selfish demographic / narrow-interest segments unable to unite and cooperate as true Americans, to fracture our civic power into tiny and weak and aimless easily-defeatable fragments, all to divide and conquer us.

• To control our public mind so we always focus on the entertaining play-by-play of news bites that pop up and fade away, so we absorb the news they feed us and never look beneath that superficial and deceptive surface, and to never assemble events into a clear past-to-future broad overall picture like the founders of America did to prepare our nation's Charters of Freedom.

• To control our civic activism so we always react only to mere bits and pieces of the overall problem afflicting America and to do so ineffectively -- such as to blog about or mobilize for just narrow single issues (such as the latest White-House injustice) and to flit from mini-issue to mini-issue in a disorganized flurry of powerless comments and weak actions, each aimless and diluted effort brushed off or crushed by the full might of the consolidated enemy within -- and to never join forces or plan or mount the sensible and sound full solution exemplified by our Declaration of Independence and prescribed by our Constitution that would stop all instances of lawbreaking and inhumanity by the Homeland Enemy.

• To make sure we can't perceive how true conservatives and true liberals have much in common and could unite and cooperate with overwhelming democratic effect: How both abhor the right wing that violates our Constitution and hurts our citizens. How both are rooted in and revere our Constitution including separation of church and state. How the right wing stems from further back in history than conservatives do, how the right wing sympathizes with the injustices that outraged Colonial America and triggered the American Revolution (rule by the power of wealth and privilege, rule by divine and corporate power, enforced by police-state power in the homeland and by military power abroad). How the right wing hijacked the "conservative" label and is actually un-American and anti-American behind the moral and patriotic and pious masks they wear. How true conservatives and right-wingers are as different as night and day. How the right wing is tiny compared to the grand total of all true conservatives and true liberals here in America.

These are some of the ways the Homeland Enemy and its media machine play our minds like fiddles to disable our capacity as We the People to carry out our Constitution, and to trick us to think and act in concert with them against America and the world and our posterity.

How do they do it? Through persuasion and media. They use powerful advertising and public-relations techniques developed by Madison Avenue to shape and control America's public mind, the same methods of persuasion admired by Hitler and employed by the Nazis to shape and control the public mind of the Third Reich. How powerful are their methods? Look at the Olympic Games: how the torch relay, torch ceremony, five olympic rings, and big-stadium spectacle all stick in our minds as being ancient and pure. All are historically fictitious, all were brand-new for Nazi-Germany's 1936 Olympics, all were the brainchild of the manipulation industry that's even more skillful today including their design of wholesome images and phrases, such as Compassionate Conservatism and Family Values, to hide inhumanity beneath. They captured and control our mass media. They stripped the FCC's fairness doctrine and public-service requirements from broadcasting which gave rise to right-wing hate broadcasting and radical-right religious broadcasting, they removed the FCC's restrictions on media consolidation and then merged broadcasting stations and various other types of media companies into a few giant media corporations which conglomerated with multinational corporations who together control America's mass-media content including the news, they combined advertising and public-relations and journalism and entertainment into "communication" where news reporters (and political operatives and PR-firm employees posing as reporters) and talking heads and actors serve the interests of the right, they force public broadcasting including NPR and PBS to shift to the right and cut their funding so they can't serve the public interest by fostering the principled self-governance and bountiful common well-being written in our Constitution or by exposing how the right and its media machine acts against those national goals and American values, and today all forms of mass media -- print, radio, television, film, news and entertainment, corporate-owned and public-owned -- operate like a giant right-wing persuasion team and manipulate the American public away from the humane values and supreme law in our Constitution. Aided by their clever ruse of being "Liberal Media."

Perhaps their most dangerous manipulation? They severely weakened our capacity to unite and cooperate toward the common good, especially our ability and will to "provide for the common defence" of America against attacks from within by irresponsible wealth and power.

Many millions -- including journalists, educators, clergy, political and business leaders, and public-interest and civic-action groups including pro-democracy organizations -- have fallen victim to these dangerous manipulations.

This is why America now plays by the free-market rules of "majority-is-right democracy" -- where the majority can be swayed to unite and cooperate toward lawlessness and inhumanity, to deem wrong as right, and to harm itself (as evidenced on Nov-2-2004 when the majority re-elected the figurehead of the Homeland Enemy to the presidency which immediately ramped up subversion of our democracy and assault on our well-being) -- instead of by the principled rules of "real American democracy" enshrined in our Constitution.

As history teaches, wealth and power tend to consolidate -- and then go berserk and exploit and harm both within and outside of its national borders. In 1776, Colonial America revolted against it. In 1787, the Framers designed our Constitution to prevent it from ever flaring up within America with multiple supreme-law lines of defense: "insure domestic Tranquility," "no religious Test[s]," trial by jury, separation of powers, and separation of church and state. The Framers fully understood why wealth and power must be restrained by a short leash and kept dispersed and diluted, such as why kings must not make laws or be judges (to stop them from being despots), why corporations must be watchfully regulated (to keep them socially responsible), why religion and government must never mix (to prevent intolerance, persecution, bloody crusades, escape from responsibility and punishment, and many other injustices caused piety that demands inhumanity). If you don't curb wealth and power, then eventually democracy and common well-being will suffer dearly, which is why they wrote so many measures into our Constitution to ward off potential harm by wealth and power. "Keep wealth and power in careful check or else suffer the dire consequences" happens to be basic survival wisdom dating back to the dawn of our species. Relatively-recent ancient Greece, who gave us the words "democracy" and "plutocracy" and "kakistocracy," didn't even allow cherished elected leaders to remain in power for very long. That same old wisdom passed all the way down through the ages and into our Constitution.

"Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty," early patriots warned. But We the People were swayed to drop our guard. Around 1980, America's wealth and power began to create that internal weakness in our national defense and then took advantage of it: they began to consolidate, and then subvert the many supreme-law defenses the Framers erected. They stealthily morphed our "representative democracy" into a corrupt form of governance despised by ancient Greece and feared by the Framers: "plutocratic kakistocracy," rule by the wealthy and least-principled. Today that out-of-control right-wing Homeland Enemy violates our Constitution to the core and commits offenses morally far worse than the injustices by the Enemy of 1776 listed in the main section of our Declaration of Independence.

Worry not. Here's a solution that would delight the souls of the Framers to no end:

Element 1. Issue a nationwide Full Red Alert about the right-wing Homeland Enemy; list the Homeland-Enemy injustices, just like Thomas Jefferson listed Enemy-of-1776 injustices in the main section of our Declaration of Independence. Issue a nationwide call to Defend and Reclaim America as prescribed in our Constitution: "We, the People," the government of America and supreme power in America, shall live up to our supreme responsibility and wield our civic power to "provide for the common defence" against the Homeland Enemy and its media machine and then "establish Justice," "insure domestic Tranquility" needed for national unity and cooperation, "promote the general Welfare," and "secure the Blessings of Liberty" to "ourselves and our Posterity" at least back up to the higher levels we had before the enemy within began to subvert and hurt America. Form a national civic-action congress similar to the Continental Congress of the American Revolution (see below) to issue this alert-and-call and to direct the rest of this needful and lawful civic revolt. This would drive success of Elements 2-4.

Element 2. Restore vital education the Homeland Enemy purged from America to cripple the ability of We the People to govern America: restore the core wisdom-and-humanity skills required for adult maturity, for good citizenship, for good leadership, and for humans to be truly human (respect, responsibility, cooperation, critical thinking; these four basic skills are ancient survival skills of our species, and in 1970s they were listed as human-development goals on our daughters' Seattle grade-school report cards); restore understanding of the real American democracy enshrined in our Constitution (beginning with the Preamble's five-fold supreme duty of every citizen). We must rebuild that foundation of good citizenship, that kernel of civic power. A population of socially-responsible clear-thinking good citizens, who understand the moral and legal essence in our Charters of Freedom, would strengthen America's ability to carry out Elements 3-4.

Element 3. Arm-twist our White House, Congress, and mass media to switch clients: from serving the Homeland Enemy back to serving We the People. If this effort fails, proceed to Element 4.

Element 4. Create a new political party, committed to fulfilling our Constitution and serving We the People, that could defeat the two major parties that violate our Constitution and serve the Homeland Enemy. How could it grow from scratch and win landslide victories? Rather easily:

• With a campaign message of solid heartland patriotism that would resonate with conservatives and liberals alike: "Committed to restore and grow and protect the principled self-governance and bountiful well-being enshrined in our Constitution and symbolized by our Flag."

• With an irresistible "Defend and Reclaim America" platform that would provide plenty of benefits -- "Principled Self-Governance" and "Bountiful Common Well-Being" -- and national-defense / national-security reforms that would protect our democracy and common good against harm by homeland wealth and power for eternity.

  Some of the benefits: A savings of $15,000 per taxpayer a year on the average (no more tax and corporate fleecing). Saving at least 50,000 lives within our borders every year (deaths presently caused by the right wing and its media machine). A return to law and order (the new party would follow the Preamble, Articles, and Amendments of our Constitution instead of violating them to the core in technicality and spirit). A return to American values ("We, the People," who wisely and humanely self-govern America, "establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility [essential for citizens to unite and cooperate], provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity").

  Some of the national-defense / national-security reforms: Campaign-finance reform where every taxpayer would pay $50 a year to save 300-times that amount every year by eliminating our current bribe-and-payoff system of campaign financing that subverts our democracy and hurts our well-being. Mass-media reform. Political-advertising reform. Political-favor reform. Judge-selection reform. Court reform to remove enemy-within federal judges (abolish lower courts that have such judges, then re-create those courts and appoint pro-We-the-People judges; reduce the size of the Supreme Court to eliminate as many enemy-within judges as possible, then increase the Court's size and appoint pro-We-the-People judges to assure a majority that's safe for America). Corporate-law reform to disable corporate personhood. Civics-education reform. Reforms to safeguard separation of powers, separation of corporation and state, and separation of church and state. These are vital to prevent wealth and power from subverting and hurting our self-governance and common well-being in the future.

• By unleashing forbidden truth that would open eyes, build civic power, and create hope. How "corporate personhood," the legal right that permits corporations to buy politicians and laws that hurt communities and people, is illegal and repealable. How affirmation of secularism and separation-of-church-and-state, "[T]he government of the United States of America is not in any sense founded on the Christian religion," became supreme Law of the Land in 1797. How Christian-Right religion, born-again Christian Zionism, is an inhumane, selfish, nihilistic, radical new brand of Christianity that emerged a century after 1776 and was not the Christianity of our nation's founders, how in the 1980s the Christian Right pressured the White House and Congress to support and grow al-Qaeda, how today the Christian Right acts dangerously against supreme law and American values in our Constitution, and thus why the Christian Right must be contained to keep America democratic and safe. How our press transformed itself, from its original function as a voice and watchdog of truth and freedom, into a right-wing hired gun for the consolidated wealth and power that hurts We the People and the world today, and therefore must be reformed. And so on.

• By promoting the sure-thing odds of winning. The Homeland Enemy's 30-million-strong base -- their wealth-corporate and Christian-Right cores are merely 0.15% and 10% of our population -- would be out-voted by at least 200 million conservatives and liberals furiously outraged at the two-party monopoly, Republicans and Democrats, that traded away our democracy and well-being in return for wealth-corporate cash and Christian-Right votes. That greater than 5-to-1 citizen-to-enemy majority would guarantee landslide victories during elections.

• By selling a bright future. Look ahead. After campaign-finance reform and other political-influence reforms, demands from corporations and the wealthy and Christian Right would fall on deaf Washington ears. After judge-selection reform and court reform, our judiciaries would no longer affirm laws and actions that subvert and hurt self-governance and common well-being. After media reforms, consolidated wealth and power would no longer be glorified into patriotic and moral goodness by our news and entertainment industries, and mass deception and mass manipulation by our mass media would cease. After bulldozing those two major obstacles -- corrupt representation, corrupt mass media -- off the road to democracy so that Washington and our media could start serving our country and citizens again, We the People would steer America back to the wise-and-humane nation defined by our entire Constitution: principled self-governance providing bountiful common well-being.

We certainly need this long-overdue, major maintenance and tune-up of our democracy.

To direct America's return to government Of, By, and For We the People -- from today's illegal government Of, By, and For the Homeland Enemy -- we must form a national civic-action congress of true conservatives and true liberals united against the right-wing enemy within hurting conservatives and liberals. We had success with a similar congress before: the Continental Congress of the American Revolution.

A logical first step for the congress? Do what Thomas Jefferson did when he wrote our Declaration of Independence, perhaps the greatest document of dissent ever written: list all the injustices -- all the lawbreaking and inhumanity -- committed by the enemy. Explain exactly how the Homeland Enemy and its media machine crippled the ability of We the People to govern America, subverted supreme law in our Constitution, and hurt our nation and the world: how they violated representative governance, violated democratic processes, violated separation of powers, violated separation of church and state, violated the common good in the Preamble (justice, domestic tranquility, common defense, the general welfare, and liberty for ourselves and our posterity), violated the Articles, and violated the Amendments. Then, like in 1776, bring the list of injustices to the attention of the entire public and declare a democratic revolution to defend and reclaim America.

A team of talented and influential concerned citizens could gather and take that first step as courageously and resolutely as in 1776. It's the American way.
